Street Cleaning & Residential Parking
Street Cleaning
Street sweeping signs posted on your block are enforced from April 1st to November 30th, weather permitting. The full 2nd Ward street sweeping schedule is available Copy of Street Sweeping 2012 (2).
To avoid parking tickets, the streets scheduled to be swept should remain clear of vehicles between 9:00 am and 3:00 pm.
The streets are broken into street sweeping sections. Please review the boundaries in the chart provided to determine the section you reside in and the dates the section has been scheduled for street sweeping. You may also click on the street sweeping map of your ward to see a larger image of the streets in the assigned sections. The street sweeping sections in the chart and the map have corresponding color codes to assist you in finding your street sweeping section. Corresponding alleys are also subject to the street sweeping schedule.
Please be aware that the City’s street sweeping schedule excludes City Holidays.
Residential and Street Parking
The City of Chicago has three different types of standard vehicle stickers:
All of these stickers are sold out of the City Clerk’s Office and Clerk Satellite Facilities:
More specific information, such as methods of purchasing these stickers, identification requirements and pricing, is available on the City Clerk’s website.
My staff is also available to answer all your parking-related inquiries if you come in to or call my Dearborn office, 312-263-9273.
Some 2nd Ward residents seeking residential permit parking may require an exemption letter from my office. This is because their specific block is not zoned for permit parking. We write the exemption letter for those residents who live near a zone but not in it. If you are new to the area, please call my office before your trip to the Clerk’s office to see if you need the letter.
To receive the exemption letter our office requires a government issued ID bearing your current address.
In addition to the regular City vehicle and permit parking zone stickers, residents living near Soldier’s Field and the United Center require an additional sticker. On days there is an event at either of those venues parking is restricted to prevent people attending those events from parking in neighborhoods instead of the lots. If you live near either venue and require a Soldier Field or United Center sticker you can come into my office and pick them up. To receive these we require a government issued ID and city sticker number.
